On Sept 1st 2008 the uk introduced the next number plate sequence for use on their vehicles which is known as 58. The previous sequence was 08 which started 1st March 2008 and lasted 6 months. The twice yearly system was introduced to smooth demand through the 12 months as the older once per year system caused a glut of orders for new cars for delivery 1st August with quite periods either side of this date. The 58 characters are the 3rd and 4th in the number plate sequence for example AB58 ABC , most people are unaware of the significance of the 58 and don’t know the age of their car.
