Many of my clients come in to my nice spacious office overlooking Park Avenue to ask me how does equity release work? Today was Brooke’s baby shower for her first baby.  I had a blast!!  Takes me back to 6 years ago when I had my first baby shower.  It is so much fun to get all this baby stuff.  It’s like Christmas!  So many things have changed in just 6 short years though. 

The swings, the bouncers, the cloth diapers, the toys!  Brooke got a dozen of fancy cloth diapers that look just like disposables.  Some had velcro others had snaps.  Pretty cool. 

Of course my favorite part of a baby shower is the games and food.  You can tell I have many kids…give me the opportunity to not cook and I am there in a heartbeat.  I won the game where you look at the tray and memorize what is on it.  Then they remove it and you have a minute to write down everything that was on the tray.  I won a cute prize, it was a picture frame that said “Children are a blessing from the Lord”.

There seems to be a billion different versions of rules about the wearing of Lace Garters as a bride on our special day.I am not too sure when the tradition first came to be but I believe it started in the Fourteenth Century. The bride would have 2 garters, both at the top of the right leg. One was as a keepsake, and the other was thrown by the groom to the single chaps in the room. Last Christmas was the third Christmas since my mom passed away.  My dad was finally getting around to rearranging things and redecorating the house.  He asked all of us to give him a couple family photos so he could put them in frames and update his photo collection on the wall.  What we all did instead was give him a few individual photos of each family member, so he could choose what he wanted, and then a group shot of each of us with our families done with canvas photo printing in size 12″ by 18″ for the wall.  He thought this was the best birthday present he ever got.
