While there are three types of sleep apnea,there is one type that is the most common.  It is the type that is called obstructive sleep apnea.  There are a number of ways that it can occur.  One of the most common is that there are narrowed or blocked airways in your nose, mouth or throat.  And if your airways are blocked it is difficult to breath during sleep.  If you are an adult and haven’t had your tonsils removed, your tonsils can enlarge and cause you issues as well.  The same is true for enlarged adnoids.  Being overweight is another cause for this issue as well.
