When searching for the best food for your dog, you must do some research and understand the best way to compare dog foods.  There are some simple things you should ask yourself…

Are the ingredients high quality?

Is there a quality meat source as one of the first two ingredients and are they human grade?  NO by-products–these can be harmful.

What about the freshness of the bag?  Always check the expiration date.

Are there fruits and vegetables listed in the ingredients?  There should be.

Fat source should be a named fat source and naturally preserved, like chicken and poultry.  Some animal fat is “generic” and made up of rendered animal fat, restaurant grease, etc. — AVOID these!

All it takes is a little time to do some research to find a high quality commercial dog food, but your best bet may be to seek out some homemade dog food recipes designed specifically for your dog.
