Cuckoo clocks are mechanical clocks that contain a cuckoo concealed within the clock. At the toll of every hour, the cuckoo comes out of its home and makes a hooting sound while simultaneously flapping its wings and opening its beak. Cuckoo clocks were first invented around the year 1776 in the Black Forest region of Germany where they were first commercialized and came into vogue. As the years progressed, they attained huge popularity among the upper middle class and were patronized widely all across the world. Even today, though most of the world has shifted to using electronic battery operated clocks, the Black Forest region of Germany still continues manufacturing black forest cuckoo clocks and providing the existing models with slight enhancements, still keeping the culture running steady.
