An old college friend saw my ranting on a social networking site and emailed me some ideas for a tasteful, yet affordable, wedding.  When her daughter was married last year these are some of the ways she saved money.  The wedding dress was purchased from the bargain basement of a well known department store.  The price was drastically reduced due to a small tear in the train that was easily repaired.  Music was provided by a DJ instead of a band.  Horderves were served at the reception in lieu of a sit down dinner.  When it was time to order the bouquets and flower arrangements, my friend got flower quotes online and avoided the high prices charged by florist shops.  The wedding and reception cost much less than my friend and her husband had feared and the wedding was still as beautiful as their daughter had dreamed about.
