Verizon Wireless is no media slouch and is taking the opportunity to pump up its media image.  With Tuesday’s move it’s pretty clear that Verizon Wireless is reacting to potential competition, and that’s a good thing for those that want to reverse phone number scan.  Dayton summarized the new firm’s thrust: Boingo Wireless is a non-infrastructure wireless ISP.  Blue Ocean Wireless is a joint venture between Altobridge and private investment firm, Claret Capital.  And don’t forget wireless is rarely ever truly wireless — you still need to run a power line.  This might seem like a disadvantage, but IR wireless is more private than RF wireless.
