I remember when I was in college studying to be a teacher, and it was “common knowledge” that if you were caught underage drinking, you could never be a teacher in Pennsylvania. Although I definitely don’t support underage drinking, I have always wondered about the validity of that statement. Is it possible for a person in Pennsylvania to have negative marks on their police records and still get a job teaching in a public school? If so, where is the line drawn between infringements that determine you cannot be a teacher in PA and those which are just “minor” blemishes?
